It’s summer in the High Country, and I know that even though I’ve just finished dinner, there's still time to get in an evening hike.

I carefully wrap up my painting and place it in my backpack to set off on the trail.

The plan is to photograph the new piece during the soft sunset light.

The forest is darkening, but I’m not discouraged, for the magic hour is still 15 minutes away.

I hurry along and am greeted at the top by an outpouring of rose and tangerine skies.

Everything the light touches is perfect.
