Art in the Park July 2023 | Blowing Rock, NC

After last month’s Art in the Park and my recent Edgewood Cottage Artist Residency, I’m feeling right at home in Blowing Rock, NC this summer. In just one month’s time, it feels as if I have a brand new tent of work, and it was such a joy to share that with you all at this month’s Art in the Park.

While the weather forecast had us a little nervous with its calls for storms, the rain ended up holding off until the show was over. Instead, we were treated with a beautifully overcast day with clouds saving us from the full July sun’s heat. Something about the clouds rolling in through the layers of mountain trees felt mystical and romantic and made me want to paint them all the more.

More people than ever came out to enjoy the cloudy summer day and tents of fine art and craft. It was wonderful to see a few familiar faces from last month’s Art in the Park and from my Artist Residency. Thank you to all who stopped back by and thank you to all my new Blowing Rock art collectors.

Towards the end of the show, I had a chance to make a couple new incredibly talented artist friends and to see a few friends from events past. When my husband and I saw this print, “Days of Wonder,” by my art friend Michelle McDowell Smith from Roanoke, VA, it reminded us so much of our pup Zorro and his obsession with chipmunks that we just had to take it home with us. Now this piece - Zorro’s first art collection - hangs in our living room, making us smile everyday.

I hope my work does the same for you all. Thank you again for welcoming my work into your homes and lives. I hope to see you again at next month’s Art in the Park on August 12th in Blowing Rock, NC.
